Walter Andersen Nursery Day Celebration

Join us Feb. 13 to celebrate Walter Andersen Nursery Day as proclaimed by the Council of the City of San Diego to recognize Walter Andersen Nursery’s efforts to 110 low income families in Linda Vista. The nursery donated poinsettias that the families received in addition to holiday treats provided by other organizations.

Both stores will have cake for customers and 10% savings on regularly priced merchandise*.

WHEREAS, Walter Andersen Nursery was opened in 1928 by Walter Andersen Sr., on Juan Street in Old
Town near the intersection of Taylor Street. In the early years of the company, Walter Andersen Nursery
provided all landscaping and garden services from regular maintenance and landscape design to installation
and household plants; and

WHEREAS, Walter Andersen Nursery has built its reputation on providing the highest quality plant
material and the best customer service backed by a professional staff. This, along with the widest variety of
plant material available anywhere in San Diego has kept generations of San Diegans coming to Walter
Andersen Nursery year after year; and

WHEREAS, The Nursery and the Andersen Family are very involved in a variety of community projects
and groups including youth sports in both Point Loma and Scripps Ranch, elementary, middle school, high
school and colleges throughout the city, various museums, and various civic and community service groups.
By supporting these numerous projects and organizations, the Nursery and the family hope to give back to
the people that have given them so much; and

WHEREAS, During the holiday season, Walter Andersen Nursery made the homes of 110 very low-income
Linda Vista families more festive by donating over 100 poinsettias; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 9, 2006, with the help of Bayside Community Center, the Linda Vista
Fire Fighters, dedicated community volunteers, Councilmember Frye’s office and Walter Andersen Nursery,
families and children were excited to receive their beautiful poinsettias along with trees, turkeys, potatoes
and pies; and volunteers and firefighters from previous years were pleased with the addition of this festive
treat; and

WHEREAS, Walter Andersen Nursery helped to put smiles on faces, many of which would not have
otherwise had anything else to help celebrate the holiday season; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of San Diego, that this Council, for and on behalf of the
people of San Diego, does hereby proclaim Tuesday, February 13, 2007, to be “Walter Andersen Nursery
Day” in the City of San Diego; and does hereby recognize Walter Andersen Nursery’s wonderful giving spirit
during the holiday season.

WAN Expert To Make Appearance At StoneBridge


On Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Estates At StoneBridge will be the setting for ‘Passion for Posh’, produced by The Corky McMillin Companies and Brookfield Homes. David Ross, a Walter Andersen store manager will be a presenter at this event that will include special presentations, professional design tips, cutting-edge decorating ideas and landscaping lessons as well as tours of the model homes at StoneBridge. David will present four landscape discussions to include rose care, spring color, recovering from frost damage and spring bulbs. He’ll answer your plant questions and address landscaping issues. See him at 10 a.m. at Sanctuary (Plan 1), 11 a.m. at Tiburon (Plan 1), noon at Viscaya (Plan 1) and 1 p.m. at Calabria (Plan 1).
To reach The Estates at StoneBridge from Interstate 15, take Pomerado Road east approximately 3 1/2 miles through Scripps Ranch and turn right at the intersection of Spring Canyon Road and Pomerado Road. Turn right on StoneBridge Estates Parkway and follow the signs to the various sales offices. Walter Andersen Nursery is located near StoneBridge. From StoneBridge, turn right onto Pomerado Road and turn right on Scripps Poway Parkway. The nursery is located on the left hand corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Community Road. We’re open daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
