2005 San Diego County Fair Exhibit

A big plot of dirt was the beginning of this layout. Nurseryman Richard Wright engineered a three-track layout which is visible. First, the foundation is prepared, the layout goes down with painstaking precision which includes smoothing out the gravel then placing the track. When everything works Richard and this year's assistants Trevor Cunningham and Isatt Reyes from our Poway store fill in with plants and rocks.

The Eggliner train got its own track this year.

The multileveled layout features 3 tracks. Able assistance creating the design was provided by volunteers Bob Kaplan, Jim Taylor and Ron Palmer.

Once the track is in place, the landscape takes shape by putting rocks and plants in place, then the fun begins. It's time to run the trains. This year's exhibit included a working water feature on the top level of the layout. Walter Andersen Nursery has been the longest running exhibitor at the Del Mar Fair Flower Show (now the San Diego County Fair), not missing an exhibition since its inception in 1938.
