Home Gardeners to Get Ornamental Grass Growing Tips

Growing grass no longer means having a great lawn. It now includes adding popular ornamental grasses to your landscape.

Join Walter Andersen Nursery as it presents ‘A Gurus Guide to Growing Ornamental Grasses’ with special guest John Greenlee. Known as the ‘Guru of Ornamental Grasses’, Greenlee is a nursery owner and author. Not only has he loaned his name to a collection of grasses provided by one of our vendors EuroAmerican Propagators' John Greenlee Signature Collection, but he also made the selections they would offer.

Greenlee graduated in 1978 with a B.S. degree in ornamental horticulture from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. In 1992 he wrote "The Encyclopedia of Ornamental Grasses". Greenlee has appeared on the PBS television series "The New Garden" and the HGTV shows "Way to Grow" and "Grow it -- a Gardener's Guide." He has designed public and private gardens throughout the United States, including the Getty Museum and the Norton Simon Museum in Los Angeles, the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park and the savannas at Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida.

Come see some new varieties of ornamental grasses and hear what’s new in this growing trend. Copies of Greenlee’s book, "The Encyclopedia of Ornamental Grasses" will be available and participants may stay after the presentation for a container potting demonstration.

The class will be held October 15, 2005, at 9:30 a.m., 12755 Danielson Court., Poway.
