2008 San Diego County Fair

This year’s theme is ‘The Summer of Sports’. The challenge is how to make plant material and the theme united. Store manager, David Ross and landscape designer, Michael Waters visited the Del Mar Fairgrounds to take a look at the site for Walter Andersen’s display. Knowing that tropical plants would be used, Michael’s challenge was to then incorporate a sports flavor into the tropics. He opted to create a back yard that you might find in a beach community and used sand to border the display. The patio furniture came from the nursery.

Installation took just under one week with the experienced David, who has more than 15 years experience installing fair displays, there for all of it.

Everyone at Walter Andersen Nursery is not only proud of this year’s display, but also of the fact that it won one of the top awards, The Manager’s Award.
